District Magistrate Sangrur issues new orders regarding Covid restrictions

District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Mr. Ramvir today issued orders to curb the spread of Covid -19 pandemic by relaxing the curfew in the district. In order all essential and non-essential shops and establishments are allowed to open from Monday to Saturday till 6 pm.  It is also directed that the daily night curfew in the district would be in force from 7 pm to 5 am the next day and the weekly curfew would be in force from 7 pm on Saturday to 5 am on Monday and all traffic except for medical purposes will be closed during this time. In addition, those entering through flights will be required to bring an Covid vaccination Certificate (vaccination atleast 14 days ago) or an RTPCR report from within 72 hours. Public transport (buses, taxis, autos) will be able to carry 50 per cent of its passengers.  All educational institutions, schools and colleges will remain closed, but medical and nursing colleges will be remain open as before.
The orders issued by the district magistrate stated that the examinations related to the recruitments could be conducted in compliance with the rules. Similarly, all sports and trainings can be done for national and international level competitions.  The orders enacted by the District Magistrate said that all the shops including malls and multiplex shops would be open till 6 pm and food could be taken home from restaurants, hotels and dhabas etc till 6 pm and these institutions could make home delivery till 9 pm.  In addition, private offices can work with up to 50 per cent of their staff, while attendance at government offices can be decided by the department’s headquarters, but exemption can be given to co-morbid, disabled employees.
The orders said that no gathering of more than 20 persons will be allowed in the district including in weddings and funerals etc. Each gathering in which more than 20 persons present will need prior approval except funeral.
The orders said that all government offices should listen to the grievances of the people in a virtual / online manner and public dealing discouraged as for as possible in the office and allowed only in unavoidable circumstances. Referring to the exemptions, the District Magistrate said that following Covid appropriate behaviour , hospitals, nursing homes, veterinary hospitals, laboratories, medical institutions and all private and public sector medicine manufacturing and supply agencies and related traffic should be provided exemption with the required documents.  Essential items like milk, dairy products, poultry products (eggs, meat), vegetables and fruits are exempted.  E-commerce, transportation of goods, construction activities in villages and cities can also be done.  Fisheries related services where fish, meat and fish seeds are exempted during restrictions .
All activities related to agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, veterinary services will be exempted, vaccination camps will be exempted . The manufacturing industry and the service sector industry and their employees are also exempted from transportation. Petrol pumps, gas stations, IT, Telecommunications, Internet Broadcast and Cable Services, Electrical, Cold Chains and Warehouse Services, Banks, ATMs  Cash vans etc. will also be exempted.
These orders will remain in force within the district till June 15, 2021 and violation of these orders will be dealt with under Sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
