DEPUTY COMMISSIONER STARTS SEEDING OF VEGETABLES AT PUNJAB AGRO’S STATE-OF-THE-ART NURSERY FOR VEGETABLES

Fazilka, 26 July 2024 : Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal started the seeding for next crop of vegetables of winter season at Punjab Agro’s automatic nursery for vegetables at Alamgarh, Abohar. The nursery, equipped with international standards and net house, will provide high-quality seedlings to farmers, ensuring better yields and reduced losses.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is making concerted efforts to diversify agriculture and increase farmers’ income. Encouraging farmers to grow vegetables is a key part of this strategy. She added that Punjab Agro’s nursery will play a crucial role in providing farmers with disease-free and high-quality seedlings, leading to better crop yields.

Dr. Duggal said that the nursery is equipped with modern facilities, including controlled temperature and humidity, ensuring optimal growing conditions for seedlings. This will result in higher germination rates and healthier plants, reducing losses for farmers. Punjab Agro officials, including Plant Head Subhash Choudhary and Manager Gurpreet Singh, said that farmers can avail of this facility at minimal rates. They added that the nursery will also provide seedlings for early and late sowing, catering to the needs of farmers throughout the year.

The officials said that farmers can contact Punjab Agro’s juice factory at Alamgarh for more information and to place orders for seedlings. They emphasized that this initiative will revolutionize vegetable cultivation in the region, leading to increased productivity and income for farmers.
