June 20, 2021: Following her hat-trick of gold medals at the World Cup Stage 3, star Indian Archer Deepika Kumari regained the number one spot in the global rankings.

Kumar bagged three gold medals on Sunday in three recurve events – women’s individual, team and mixed pair. Kumari acquired the top spot for the first time in 2012.

“This is going to take Deepika to the number one spot in the world rankings on Monday,” World Archery had tweeted on its official account after Deepika’s gold rush.

The 27-year-old first teamed up with Ankita Bhakat and Komalika Bari to pocket the women’s recurve team gold with a comprehensive victory over Mexico.

Later she paired up with her husband Atanu Das, the couple defeated Sjef van den Berg and Gabriel Schloesser 5-3 for the gold medal.

Deepika then beat Elena Osipova 6-0 to claim the third gold in the recurve women’s section, her fourth individual World Cup gold medal.

The Ranchi archer has overall won nine gold, 12 silver and seven bronze medals in World Cup.

In June 2012, Deepika became the only second woman after Dola Banerjee to grab the numero uno status after winning her first recurve World Cup goal medal at Antalya, Turkey.

She will be the only woman archer to represent India in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics next month.
