DC ORDERS EXTENSIVE DRIVE AGAINST VECTOR BORNE DISEASES

Jalandhar, 16 September 2021 : Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Ghanshyam Thori today asked the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ), Health, Rural Development and Panchayat and Local Government department to start a major drive for checking the spread of Vector Borne Diseases in the district.

Presiding over a meeting here at the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner said that the places vulnerable for producing the larva of mosquitoes must be identified well in advance and action must be taken by the Health and MCJ authorities in this regard. He said that a joint team comprising of the Health department and the civic body must hold door-to-door survey in this regard and check the places were larva was breeding due to the callousness of the owners through storage of water in air-coolers or other waste items of the house.

Thori said that special inspection of the Government offices must also be undertaken in this regard to ensure that breeding ground was not provided to mosquitoes in air-coolers, old/ worn out utensils and others. He said that the district administration was firmly committed for tackling this menace to ensure good health of the residents.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that elaborate arrangements need to made for tackling these vector borne diseases well in time. Thori said that the spread of dengue cases can only be contained through proper awareness and enforcement, especially in urban areas. He further directed the health officials to launch joint campaign with GOGs in villages against denge disease to create awareness among rural folk.

He emphasized the need for a massive drive with a twin motive of awakening the people and taking stern action against the defaulters. Regular challaning to be ensured against the erring persons so as to keep people from dengue, he added.
