DC honours coach of Thomas Cup winning Badminton team

–   DC gives Rs 21,000 to National Champion Abhinav Thakur

Jalandhar, 28  May  2022  :   Former International player and coach of the Indian Badminton team that won the Thomas Cup for the first time in 73 years, Vijaydeep Singh, arrived in Jalandhar today. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori (IAS) honoured Vijaydeep and appreciated him for his immense contribution to the Indian Badminton.

DC Ghanshyam Thori said that the winning team of Thomas Cup has brought glory to Indian Badminton all across the world, while adding, “The credit for this goes to the excellent coaching imparted by coach Vijaydeep and the hard work of the players.” He said that the Indian Badminton team has created history by winning the Thomas Cup. While interacting with DC Ghanshyam Thori, coach Vijaydeep Singh shared some of the exciting moments related to Thomas Cup.

Meanwhile, as a token of appreciation, on behalf of the District Badminton Association (DBA), Jalandhar, DC Ghanshyam Thori gave Rs 21,000, to the National Champion (Under-19) Abhinav Thakur and also said that all possible help will be given to him in future as well. He encouraged Abhinav to fully concentrate and focus on the game.

Before meeting DC Ghanshyam Thori, coach Vijaydeep Singh also visited Raizada Hansraj Stadium and gave some Badminton tips to the players. Coach Vijaydeep Singh said that the facilities being provided to the players at Raizada Hansraj Stadium are the best in the whole of North India, for which the entire team of the DBA deserves appreciation and needs to be congratulated. Vijaydeep was highly impressed with the infrastructure of Raizada Hansraj Stadium. On this occasion, DBA Secretary and former national player Ritin Khanna was also present.
