COMMISSIONERATE POLICE NABS THREE MEMBERS OF DREADED PANCHAM GANG INVOLVED IN GOPAL NAGAR FIRING INCIDENT

JALANDHAR, 22 APRIL 2022 : Tightening noose around dreaded gangsters and criminals, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police today arrested three members of notorious Pancham Gang involved in Gopal Nagar firing incident that took place on April 14, 2022.
Divulging the details, Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Toor said that the arrested accused have been identified as Amit Kalyan alias Subhana (32) of village Subhana, Deepak Bhatti alias Kaka (25) and Nikhil alias Sahil alias Kela (29), both residents of Rasta Mohalla, Jalandhar.
He said that Police had constituted several teams after the crime last week following which Amit and Deepak were arrested from Dehradun, Uttarakhand whereas Nikhil had been nabbed from Jalandhar. Mr Toor said that Himanshu, a resident of Gurdev Nagar, had lodged a complaint that the arrested trio along with their other accomplices had attacked him on April 14, this at 9.40 pm at Gopal Nagar locality.

The Commissioner of Police said that complainant had further said that when he had tried to escape the culprits had opened fire at him which hit a commuter namely Harmail Singh alias Devgan from Tobri Mohalla, leaving him injured. He said that special teams have also recovered a .32 bore pistol from the accused which was used in the crime along with four live rounds. Mr. Toor said that special teams under Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr Nirmal Singh, the CIA In-charge Inspector Mr Bhagwant Singh and Sub Inspector of SOU Jalandhar Mr Ashok Kumar has arrested the culprits within a week.
The Commissioner of Police further said that the Commissionerate Police had investigated the crime both through human and technical intelligence after which the hideouts of accused was traced. He said that raids were conducted at Dehradun where Amit Kalyan and Deepak Bhatti had been hiding. Mr Toor said that the third accused Nikhil was also nabbed following their arrest besides recovery of weapon from accused Deepak Bhatti alias Kaka.
The Commissioner of Police said that these criminals were already booked in several criminal cases ranging from NDPS Act to Arms Act to attempt to murder for which they had remained in the jails. He said that the accused Amit Kalyan alias Subhana was booked in several criminal cases and was released on bail September, 2021 while Three FIRs were lodged against Deepak Bhatti and was also released on bail December, 2021. Likewise, Mr Toor said that third accused Nikhil alias Kela was also booked in six cases at different police stations.
Reiterating zero-tolerance against the gangsters and criminals, the Commissioner of Police said that no stone would be left unturned in making Jalandhar a crime-free city. He said that major thrust will be laid on maintaining law and order situation in the city at all costs. Mr Toor said that special vigil was being kept across the city to check the crime rate.
