Clemency to guilty of post matric scholarship scheme atrocious : Joginder Mann
Phagwara, 12 January 2022 : Former Punjab Minister and Chairman of Punjab Agro Industries Corporation Joginder Singh Mann today said that recent decision of Punjab Cabinet to grant Clemency to guilty of post matric scholarship scheme was atrocious.
In a statement issued here today, he said that it is surprising that instead of taking strict action against strictly the erring educational institutions for embezzling the money meant for post Matric scholarship scheme, the Punjab government has exempted them from Police case. He said that through this move the Punjab government has backstabbed the SC brethren as those who have ruined the career of their wards will now move freely. He said that instead of this a strict action against such institutions would have acted as a deterrent for others to do this heinous crime.
He said that the post matric scholarship scheme was started by UPA government led by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to give reprieve to SC students and open new vistas of progress and prosperity for them. However, he said that this barbaric embezzlement of post matric scholarship funds was not only a cold-blooded murder of bright future of several students from Schedule Caste community but it was a conspiracy to stop their progress also as this amount could have illuminated many lives of the underprivileged and weaker sections of society. He said that the hands of these educational institutions are drenched with blood of several innocent SC students as they have left no stone unturned for ruining their career by embezzling funds under post matric scholarship scheme.
He said that report submitted by honest and upright Additional Chief Secretary of Punjab Kirpa Shankar Saroj has clearly indicted the culprits but for the reasons unknown state government had turned a blind eye towards it and now it has let these perpetrators move freely. He said that it is shameful that instead of going behind the bars the culprits of this heinous crime will now be devising another strategy to stop SC students from getting educated. He said that freely roaming perpetrators of this embezzlement scam are rubbing salt into the wounds of the SC students, whose career had been ruined by these sinners.
