Bathinda, 10 September 2021 : Central University of Punjab has added another feather to its cap by obtaining 84th Rank in the ‘University Category’ in Ministry of Education (MoE) ‘National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings 2021’ released by Hon’ble Minister of Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday. This University has been listed among the ‘Top 100 Universities of India’ in NIRF Ranking third time consecutively in the last three years. Among the 45 Central Universities of India, CUPB is at 12th position in NIRF 2021.

Under the able guidance of Chancellor Prof. Jagbir Singh and dynamic leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the CUPB once again stood on top with the best rank in NIRF 2021 among other new Central Universities of India established in 2009 and afterward. The university has improved its NIRF Rank this year by obtaining 84th Position in 2021 Edition, as compared to 87th Rank in NIRF 2020 and 95th Rank in NIRF 2019.

To rank Universities/Institutes, the NIRF team adopted MoE approved methodology and evaluated educational institutions across the country on five parameters i.e, Teaching Learning and Resources (TLR); Research and Professional Practices (RPP); Graduation Outcomes (GO); Outreach & Inclusivity (OI); and Perception.

Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice-Chancellor, attributed this success to the hard work of faculty, students, officers, and staff members. He stated that we need to especially improve on the parameters of Research and Professional Practices (RPC) and Perception apart from strengthening remaining three parameters of NIRF in the coming years. As far as RPC is concerned, the faculty and research scholars need to increase the number of research publications, research projects, and patents. For the improvement of Perception, Prof. Tiwari appealed CUPB fraternity to conduct research for finding solutions to the local and national issues and establish a strong connect with the society through outreach programmes.

It is pertinent to mention that four (4) other institutions from the state of Punjab namely Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala; Chandigarh University, Mohali; Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar; and Lovely Professional University, Phagwara are among the ‘Top 100 Universities of India’ in NIRF Ranking 2021.
