Chandigarh, March 15: AAP might have came into power riding on anti-Akali sentiment in state but things doesn’t seem to have changed for officers as a blue eyed IAS officer of Akali regime is at helms of affairs of all the arrangements at Khatkar Kalan for swearing in ceremony of new CM Bhagwant Mann thereby giving heartburn to AAP volunteers.

For those who have been privy to decade long Akali regime from 2007-2017 in the state, IAS officer Manvesh Sidhu is not a stranger. The then Principal Secretary of Deputy Chief Minister and Akali supremo Sukhbir Singh Badal, Manvesh Sidhu had enjoyed the fruits of power. The IAS officer had ruled the roost right from important postings to major policy decisions.

Such was his clout that even minutest of minute decision of Akali regime was not taken without his consent. The officer also became a part of several controversies due to his working style. Though with change of guard in 2017 it was expected that the wings of this officer will be clipped but the fixed match between Congress and Akalis proved boon for him as he held key appointments during congress regime too.

However, strangely with the Aam Aadmi Party coming to power it was expected that this officer close to Akalis will be in limbo. But contrary to it the government has given the entire charge of supervising the arrangements to him. The officer, who has charge of Divisional Commissioner Ropar, is leaving no stone unturned to appease his new political bosses thereby raising many eyebrows. However his close proximity with Akalis and controversies attached to him is giving heartburn to AAP leadership.
