AFTER THREE YEARS OF OBLIVION, DOABA STRONGMAN RANA GURJIT TO MAKE A COMEBACK IN CABINET
Chandigarh,02 August 2021 : After remaining in political oblivion for three years Doaba strongman and a close confidante of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Rana Gurjit Singh is all set to make a comeback in the Punjab Cabinet. Highly placed sources in the Congress said that with the Congress high command clearing the name of Rana, the Kapurthala MLA is likely to join Captain’s Cabinet in the coming two-three days.
In oblivion from last few years, doaba strongman had been known for his close proximity with the Chief Minister and was once considered as the main trouble shooter of Captain Amarinder Singh. He had ever remained on forefront in every adversary on the Chief Minister and was best known for the role played by him in historic win of Captain Amarinder Singh from Amritsar Lok Sabha seat when he was pitted against BJP stalwart Arun Jaitley. Rana was poll incharge of Captain Amarinder Singh and this victory had then scripted the comeback of Chief Minister.
After the formation of Congress government in Punjab under leadership of Chief Minister Rana Gurjit Singh was appointed Power Minister but had an unceremonious exit after his name cropped up in Sand scam. Since then Rana Gurjit Singh had been in sort of political oblivion both within the party and the government. He had also blamed a top bureaucrat of the state for his exit and had a heated argument with him during a meeting in front of the Chief Minister.
Though with the entry of Sukhpal Singh Khaira in party rumours were round that Rana was miffed with the party leadership and may part way with the party. However, Rana has emerged as undisputed leader of Doaba region and enjoys good hold over the MLAs in the region. Even Congress MLAs like Sushil Kumar Rinku, Ramanjeet Singh Sikki, Hardev Singh Laddi and others are his die hard supporters and can do anything on his single call.
Likewise, Rana’s pleasing personality and cooperative attitude also makes him a hot favourite amongst the other MLAs and leaders of both Malwa and Majha region. Sources revealed that Rana who has always been a major troubleshooter of the Chief Minister has also played some important role in ongoing crisis by making a major dent in Sidhu camp. This Cabinet reshuffle will prove that Rana is true boss of Doaba region and the most close associate of Chief Minister, said a New Delhi based Congress leader.
