ADMINISTRATION CONDUCTS TRAINING WORKSHOP FOR MONITORING TEAMS TO ENSURE STRICT VIGIL OVER POLL EXPENDITURE

SAYS, EXPENDITURE TEAMS TO KEEP A CLOSE TAB OVER THE EXPENDITURE AS ECI ALREADY CAPPED SPENDING LIMIT UP TO 30.80 LAKH
JALANDHAR, 24 DECEMBER 2021 : In order to explain the role and responsibility of various teams constituted for the purpose of keeping an eye over the poll expenditure, the district administration on Friday held a special training workshop for these teams to ensure strict vigil of poll expenditure of candidates during the election process. In this training session district level nodal officers, members of accounting teams, assembly level assistant expenditure observers, and assembly level master trainers participated.
Chairing the training session, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) cum nodal officer training Jaspreet Singh said that the Election Commission of India has set a limit of Rs 30.80 lakh for every candidate to spend during the 2022 Assembly elections, thereby all team members should be acquaint with the methodology to calculate the poll expenditure.
The ADC said that these teams have been given major responsibility to monitor the election expenditure of candidates and parties and it was necessary to impart them training about the methods to fulfill their duty so as to strengthen them during the course of their duty. He also added that all team members have been explained about the role and responsibilities entrusted upon them by the Election Commission of India to ensure proper implementation of the guidelines issued by the commission.
He also said for the facilitation of these teams, the rates of every item have been duly fixed by the Election Commission adding that to further assist these teams several Flying Squad Teams (FST), Static Surveillance Team (SST), Video Surveillance Team (VST), and Video Viewing teams were also formed by the administration.
Mr. Singh said the main objective of this training was to ensure that all team members remained updated with their responsibility & methodology to be adopted for calculating poll expenditure in an effective manner. He also expressed hope that the training workshop would enable the officers concerned to get a detailed insight into their duties for smooth conduct of the elections. On the occasion Tehsildar Election Sukhdev Singh, Election Kanoongo Rakesh Kumar, Ramandeep Kaur, and Programmer Gurpreet Singh were present.
