Adequate arrangement by Punjab Govt ensures smooth procurement of paddy in the state : Cabinet Minister Dhaliwal
– Assures farmers to extend procurement time limit if needed
– Visits Phagwara Dana Mandi to reviews the procurement
Phagwara, 28 October 2022 : Agriculture and Rural Development and Panchayat Minister of Punjab Mr. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal has said that the procurement of paddy is going on smoothly as the adequate arrangements were made in time by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Mann and with the support of farmers.
While reviewing the purchase of paddy at Phagwara Dana Mandi here today, the Cabinet Minister said that “ it was for the first time that the farmers were able to sell their crop in 12 hours after the arrival of paddy in mandi and payments are being paid for the purchase of paddy before the stipulated time of 48 hours.
The minister also interacted with the farmers and artiyas at the mandi who expressed satisfaction over the ongoing purchase. He also announced that the Punjab government will purchase every single grain of farmers and for that the procurement time to be enhanced if needed as per the requirement of farmers and other stake holders.
It may be mentioned here that in district kapurthala Rs. 1199.51 crore have been paid to farmers which was 101.57 % of the payment to be made within 48 hours of the stipulated time. Besides that More than Rs. 75 crore rupees are being paid to farmers daily.
It is to be noted that more than 631944 MT paddy has been procured till yesterday which counts 80 % of the target of 796,120 MT paddy in Kapurthala district. In lifting, district Kapurthala has also shown excellent performance, under which 546,722 MT have been lifted so far, which is 102.18 % of the scheduled lifting within 72 hours.
On this occasion ADC Phagwara Dr Nayan Jassal , AAP halqa incharge and former minister Joginder Singh Mann, District president AAP Lalita siklani , District Mandi Officer and others were present.
