Congress has realised dream of Dr Ambedkar by making Channi as first Dalit CM of state : Joginder Mann
Phagwara, 19 September 2021 : Welcoming elevation of Mr Charanjit Singh Channi as first Dalit Chief Minister of state, former Punjab Minister and Chairman of Punjab Agro Industries Corporation S Joginder Singh Mann said that Congress has realised dream of Dr BR Ambedkar by giving first Dalit CM To State.
In a statement issued here today, S Mann said that it is proud moment for underprivileged and weaker sections of society that one of them will head the government of state. He said that since ages these people have lived a life of agony but today with blessings of Dr Ambedkar around 40% populace of state has got the proud that Punjab will have a Dalit CM. He said that well learned and well educated Channi is the most suitable and best choice for this post.
He also said that Congress has a chequered history of empowering dalits by giving them due share in power. He said that while Babu Jagjivan Ram was made Union Defence Minister by Congress, Sardar Buta Singh and Mr Sushil Kumar Shinde were made Home Ministers by Congress. He said now with Mr Channi’s elevation the dream of millions of SC brethren has been realised.
He also expressed hope that Mr Channi will teach perpetrators of post matric Scholarship scheme a lesson by putting them behind the bars. He said that this has been the biggest injustice meted out to dalits and punishment to its perpetrators is the only remedy for it. He also congratulated Mr Channi and envisioned that duo of Punjab Congress President Mr Navjot Singh Sidhu and Mr Channi will lead Congress to victory in 2022 polls.
