100 PERCENT OF GOVERNMENT TEACHERS ADMINISTERED WITH THE FIRST DOSE OF COVID-19 VACCINE IN DISTRICT : DC
JALANDHAR, 24 AUGUST 2021 : Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today disclosed that all government teachers in the district have been covered with at least a single dose of the Covid-19 vaccine while most of them have also taken a second jab. Presiding over a review meeting at DAC Jalandhar, the DC asked officials to submit an undertaking that no teacher was left without first dose so that a detailed compliance report could be sent to the state government.
Laying thrust on the complete vaccination of the teaching and non-teaching staff in the district, the Deputy Commissioner accompanied by Civil Surgeon Dr. Balwant Singh told the officials that any kind of negligence in this task to be dealt with heavy hands. He added that as per the government’s directives all teachers needed to get vaccinated before attending their duty at schools as a measure to ensure the safety of children in educational institutions.
Meanwhile, the DC also reviewed the progress made in AB-Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna, the UDID scheme, and the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic. He stated that a new PSA-based oxygen generation plant is soon coming up at Civil Hospital Jalandhar, along with similar plants in Basti Guzan and Nakodar hospitals, adding several private hospitals had also installed PSA plants to realize the goal of becoming self-reliant in oxygen production. The DC also added that as many as 12,89,225 eligible beneficiaries have been administered Covid-19 doses including 8,67,349 people with first and 3,11,876 with the second dose.
Thori further said that a total of 542894 E-cards have been generated in the district under AB-Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna besides the submission of claims of 65164 beneficiaries worth Rs. 90.91 crore related to private hospitals. He also added that as many as 17866 UDID cards were generated in the district to assist specially-abled persons with special schemes meant for this section.
