481 Development works amounting over Rs. 111 crore started under UEIP Phase-II in Jalandhar: Deputy Commissioner

Reviewing the progress of works being done under both phases of the urban environment Improvement program (UEIP), Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today said that as many as 481 development works being carried out in the district under the second phase of the project at an outlay or Rs. 111.78 crore.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that of these 481 started works a total of 239 works at an expenditure of Rs. 2339.53 lakh have been initiated by the local bodies department, followed by 178 works at an outlay of Rs. 6425.97 lakh , 60 works at Rs. 2130 lakh, and four works at an expenditure of Rs. 282.55 lakh have been started by Municipal Corporation Jalandhar, Public Works Department, and PWSSB respectively.
The DC said that the state government had issued massive funds under both phases and now it’s on executing agencies to ensure timely completion of all the projects. He asked officers to personally monitor all of these projects so as to complete them within stipulated time-frame. He warns erring officials of strict action in case of any sort of delay.
Mr. Thori further added that since the first phase of this scheme was completed, the UCs to be submitted by the departments with immediate effect. He stated that a total of 295 works at Rs. 2887.56 lakh have been completed in Jalandhar district adding these projects would put the district on a high-growth trajectory.
